Cal. 22 RF. S# 21248. Bbl. 2 1/2". 4-barrel pepperbox derringer mfg. by C. Sharps & Co. Sides of frame are marked with Sharp's mfg. information above patent information (left) and address (right). Brass frame is mounted with 2-piece brown gutta percha grips, featuring raised foliate scroll panels. Diminutive brass bead front sight with frame notched rear sight. Bbl. matches the frame via the full S# on the underside. CONDITION: brass frame has acquired a mellow patina, exhibiting some scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, with the patent and address markings having softened and become largely illegible. Steel parts are faded to a gray patina, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of light to mild surface oxidation and pitting. Bore are relatively bright, exhibiting scattered spots and small patches of mild to moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Gutta percha grips are good, showing some scattered marks from handling and storage, with a small chip present on the right lower edge of the left panel. (01-29153/MLW). ANTIQUE. $350-550.
